The clutch in Nicklas' Skoda has lasted 1 million kilometres

Niklas Olsson's Skoda Octavia has almost a million kilometers. And even with the same engine and clutch. – I am very satisfied.

Niklas Olsson's Skoda Octavia is approaching a milestone that few cars reach: one million short kilometers. Remarkably, the car still has the original engine and clutch, and even the gearbox and turbo are the same as when it left the factory.

– The clutch is actually the most interesting thing, what is the world record for a clutch?", asks Olsson in an interview with the Norwegian media Motor .

Olsson bought the Skoda when it was almost new and has since taken good care of it. To minimize rust, he had the undercarriage treated, and to ensure optimum operating temperature, he installed an oil boiler, which is used all year round.

– The engine has probably not been cold-started many times. And I decided early on to change the oil every 10,000 kilometers. I think these things are decisive. In addition to singing nicely, Olsson explains.

Although the Octavia has proven to be robust, it has not been entirely without its problems. The EGR valve, gas pedal and air mass meter had to be replaced along the way. Last summer, Olsson experienced the first real breakdown when a drive shaft had to be changed.

Despite these challenges, Olsson is well satisfied with his Skoda. – I am very satisfied with this car, he says.

Olsson's experience with the Skoda shows that cars with the right care and maintenance can last much longer than many might think.

However, some cars are screwed up in such a way that they are very expensive to recycle when they reach the end of their life. In particular, fire-damaged electric cars can be an expensive pleasure that no one wants to pay for. Read more about it here .
