Car brand fires 75 percent of all dealers

Jaguar, which hopes to sell cars again in 2026, is now kicking 75 percent of all its dealers out of business. At least in England.

Jaguar drastically cuts the number of dealers in England. In fact, the brand fires a whopping 75 percent of them.

The layoffs are part of the transformation Jaguar wants to go through towards 2026, when it hopes to be able to sell new cars again. At that time, Jaguar will only sell electric cars and only to people who will initially pay a million kroner or more for a car.

– We are reducing our footprint significantly, says Rawdan Glover, managing director of Jaguar, to Car Dealer Magazine.

Today, Jaguar has 80 dealers in the UK. But according to the Daily Mail, the number will be reduced to 20 by 2026.

The company has announced that the decision is directly related to an overall strategy to adapt the dealer network to the future business model.

– As part of our new strategy, we said we would adjust the size (on the number of dealers, ed.), writes Jaguar in a comment to This is Money.

The company plans to place the remaining dealers in areas where there is a high concentration of strong customers. Jaguar emphasizes that the brand's future as a luxury brand requires fewer dealers who, in turn, focus exclusively on really expensive cars.

– The possibility of reinventing Jaguar as a luxury brand also means a focus on a lower sales volume, says the former British brand in the same announcement.

At the moment, Jaguar does not have any new cars for sale at all. The dealers that Jaguar doesn't kick out have to make do with stock cars until production starts up again.

The first car in the new series is expected to be presented in 2026. According to the plan, that model will enable Jaguar to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Subsequently, there are plans to launch a large SUV in the style of the Bentley Bentayga.
