2 out of 3 motorists choose the fossil car, new research shows

If today's motorists were to buy a new car, 2 out of 3 would still choose one with a combustion engine. Only five percent will choose an electric car, new research shows.

Most people – in fact the vast majority – would prefer to drive in a car with a combustion engine. At least if they were to choose a new car tomorrow.

This is shown by a new survey, which is behind German Targobank.

Every year, Targobank questions the behavior of motorists, and this year it is still the internal combustion engine that draws motorists. Both in a literal sense and in a literal sense.

However, the number of motorists who will choose a new car with a combustion engine has fallen compared to last year. This year, 68 percent of motorists say they would buy either a diesel, petrol or hybrid car.

This is written by the news agency DPA .

Last year, that figure was up to 72 percent. At the same time, 31 percent of the 1,009 motorists surveyed believe that the internal combustion engine as a technology is no longer 'up to date'.

If you delve further into the numbers, the drivers answer that 31 percent of them will choose a new car with a petrol engine. 15 percent can see themselves behind the wheel of a hybrid car, while 13 percent will choose a diesel car.

When it comes to the alternative 'fuels', just 3 percent say they would buy a hydrogen car. 17 percent want behind the wheel of an electric car, and 21 percent could not agree with themselves.

It is interesting that fewer motorists intend to replace the internal combustion engine with an electric car. Last year, 36 percent of motorists answered that they intended to change 'fuel'. This year, that figure is down to 29 percent.
