In order to sell more used electric cars, Semler, which imports the VW brands in Denmark, is now offering a 5-year warranty on the cars.
Shortly before Christmas, Semler Mobility, which imports Volkswagen brands in Denmark, announced that brand-new electric cars will receive a five-year warranty. This now also applies to used electric cars.
The company itself writes this on its website .
No unconditional warranty though. The importer writes that it is five years or 150,000 kilometers, and that the cars must be purchased used through them during 2024.
The full list of exclusions that the used car warranty does not cover is as follows:
Natural wear and tear or wearing parts
Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) and cars with internal combustion engines (ICE)
Digital services and services
Corrosion from within
Optional equipment or accessories that are not part of the car's original construction
Fault in the car's high-voltage battery (this is covered by the factory warranty, which is valid for 8 years or up to 160,000 km
Defects in the paint structure (this is covered by the factory's 3-year paint warranty)
This, the importer writes, should give customers greater security. On the Curpa models that run on electricity, the warranty is increased from 50,000 to 150,000 kilometers.
Despite the exceptions, 5 years is hard to find anywhere else. At least when it comes to warranty. Not even Tesla, which is otherwise the best-selling brand in Denmark, can get above 4 years.
In fact, only South Korean Kia can offer something that, at least on new cars, can compete with the VAG importer's new offering. The Korean cars are covered by a warranty of seven years or up to 150,000 kilometers.
