Volkswagen lays off – entire department is closed down permanently

Volkswagen's design center on the outskirts of Berlin, which in recent years has functioned as a testing ground for new technologies, has played its part, the car brand's managers believe. Now 100 employees smoke.

If they can't find other jobs in the Volkswagen group, 100 people have to count on being left without a salary. Volkswagen is closing down their workplace – a design center on the outskirts of Berlin.

This is written by the German news agency DPA according to Yahoo Finance .

To the news agency, Volkswagen has refused to comment on the case, because the situation has been turned around with the representatives of the affected employees.

The design center on the outskirts of Berlin has changed character internally at Volkswagen in recent years. And the employees on site have recently been testing new things and technologies on a general level and not just the design for others.

– The center's function as a laboratory for new technologies – such as those around electromobility and the associated new customer ecosystem – has gradually been integrated into the regular departments around Volkswagen's brands, says a spokesman from Volkswagen.

Although the future of the affected employees must now be discussed, there is no guarantee that the selected shop stewards will be able to get their colleagues other positions in the group.

If 100 employees smoke at once, they are not the only ones who must immediately say goodbye to the Volkswagen Group. In Belgium, the entire foundation of Audi's factory in Brussels is shaking.

Here, a trustee expects that up to 1,500 employees will be unemployed if Audi stops production of the electric car Q8 e-tron prematurely. Something everything points to. Read more about it here .
