Test finds even more mysterious faults in Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 has already been a nightmare of failures for the Chinese car brand. Now a new test reveals that the car accelerates far too slowly.

Polestar 4 is again affected by errors. This time it turns out that the car is unable to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 12.7 seconds.

The flaw was discovered during a test run by the Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld , where the rear-wheel drive electric car turned out to have significantly less muscle than the Chinese brand states.

According to Polestar, the car should be able to do 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. But during the first day of the test, it took all of 12.7 seconds to reach the same speed.

Test leader Ruben Börjesson, who has extensive experience in car testing, repeated the measurements to rule out errors in the procedure. The result was the same: the car accelerated slowly and seemed unable to deliver the horsepower Polestar otherwise promises.

The next day, the test team continued to investigate the problem. Surprisingly, the car's performance was back to normal, doing 0 to 100 km/h in under the promised 7.1 seconds. That made the Swedish journalists speculate even more.

Polestar was contacted and responded again by sending a new car for testing. But the same problem appeared again. However, further tests were made impossible by the fact that the car was apparently constantly 'correcting' itself.

According to Teknikens Värld, the error in the Polestar 4 can only be blamed on the software. Which press manager John Eriksson also confirms.

According to Eriksson, Polestar right now thinks the car is slow because the electronic stabilization program has a 'sport' setting. The setting itself, however, affects and limits the car's horsepower.

However, the problems do not go away if/when you turn off the 'sport' setting. However, the fault can go away temporarily on its own if you leave the car for 20 minutes.'

– Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We take the problem seriously and are working hard on a permanent solution," said Eriksson when the Swedish media asked about the error.

It is not the first time that the new Polestar has been affected by errors. In fact, the flaws were already starting to show when the first team of journalists were invited on trial tours. Read more about it here .
