The distance of 2,208 kilometers was short in the plug-in hybrid Roewe D7 DMH sets a record with 2,208 kilometers on one tank
The Chinese plug-in hybrid, Roewe D7 DMH, has set an impressive record by covering 2,208 kilometers on a single tank of petrol and a full charge.
Something that has secured the car a place in the Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by a plug-in hybrid without refueling or recharging.
The record attempt, which spanned four days, took place in China, where the car passed through the cities of Lanzhou, Zhangye, Jiuquan, Turpan and Urumqi.
The route was not without its challenges, as it covered surfaces of both gravel, earth, snow, ice and wet asphalt, as well as a height difference of 1,600 meters and temperatures down to -8°C. The car even crossed parts of the Gobi desert and skimmed over mountains.
The Roewe D7 DMH is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 110 hp and an electric motor that produces 201 hp.

The official range for the car is 1,400 kilometers, including 125 kilometers on electricity alone. The fact that the car traveled 808 kilometers longer than the official range shows that an experienced driver can have a great influence on fuel consumption.
The average consumption during the record attempt was 2.49 liters per 100 kilometers corresponding to 40.6 kilometers per litre.
It is now up to other automakers to see if they can beat Roewes' record. Based on the specifications of existing plug-in hybrids, it is likely that the next record will also be set in China. Or at least that a Chinese car. Read more about it here .
