Good news – petrol and diesel are now falling in price again

While taxes are already increasing from the new year, the crude price of petrol is again on the way down. And right now it's good for Danish drivers.

Gasoline prices have fallen following the weekend's events in the Middle East. Crude oil prices experienced a significant drop of over five percent following Israel's attack on military targets in Iran.

The drop comes as Iran played down the attack, leading the market to believe the conflict will not escalate further.

The price drop is the biggest in a year and has brought the price of oil down to a level not seen for a long time. Investment economist Per Hansen from Nordnet states that a sustained drop in the price of oil will be positive for both consumers, inflation and the global economy.

WTI oil traded on Tuesday morning at $67.72. And this is immediately affected by the price of petrol and diesel here in Denmark.

At the moment, the price for a liter of petrol, for example, is around DKK 13.49, while a corresponding liter of diesel costs up to DKK 11.89.

This is shown by figures from Fuelfinder.dk, which monitors the Danish fuel prices from day to day. However, it is still some way from the preliminary low point in fuel prices this year. Read more about it here .

Having said that, the lower fuel price is just a temporary deadline. Already from 1 January 2025, the price takes a huge jump. The government has decided once again to impose more taxes on the already expensive drops. This time, it is the diesel that rises.

Unfortunately for motorists, neither the government nor the EU has finished imposing taxes on fuel. The prospect of much more expensive petrol and diesel has led an expert to warn of a price level approaching DKK 23 per litre. Read more about it here .
