Forced by Tesla – Ford pauses electric car factory

Ford has temporarily halted production of the brand's electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning. All because of the Tesla Cybertruck.

The factory in Dearborn, Michigan, where the model is produced, will be closed from November 15th to January 6th. This is the second time this year that production of the F-150 Lightning has been paused.

The decision comes after a period of increased competition in the market for electric pickup models. Recently launched, the Tesla Cybertruck has quickly gained popularity and taken the place as the third best-selling electric car in the United States.

Although the F-150 Lightning has seen an 86 percent increase in sales over the previous year, with 22,807 units sold this year, it has not been enough to maintain steady production.

That's what Automotive News writes.

Ford previously held the title of America's best-selling electric pickup truck brand. But now you have to give way to Tesla.

The break in production gives Ford the opportunity to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust production to current demand. It is not yet known what effect the production halt will have on delivery times for the F-150 Lightning.

The F-150 Lightning isn't the only electric car giving Ford trouble, though. In fact, the brand loses an awful lot of money every time an electric car leaves the assembly line. Read more about it here .
