Tesla itself predicted that production would increase to 250,000 cars per year. The reality is that fewer than 50,000 have purchased a Cybertruck.
There are fewer than 50,000 Tesla Cybertrucks on the road, even though the car brand expected to build 250,000 every year.
So, to get sales of a car that almost two million drivers had pre-ordered, Tesla is trying several measures.
Here – a year and a half after the launch of the unusual pickup – fewer than 50,000 cars have been delivered. And it doesn't look good in the order books.
At the beginning of January, Tesla initially lowered the price of the Cybertruck by up to 11,600 Danish kroner. But that wasn't enough.
This is reported by Clean Technica .
Cybertruck became twice as expensive as Musk promised
Because now, at least in the US, you can finance a Cybertruck with 1.99 percent interest. That means a monthly payment of less than 5,500 Danish kroner. However, the car can also be purchased in cash for an amount equivalent to 460,000 Danish kroner.
Despite the poor sales figures, the Cybertruck is still the fifth best-selling electric car in the entire United States. However, that probably says more about how little electric cars have really taken hold of the North American market than Tesla itself.
One of the reasons for the poor sales is the car's price. When the Cybertruck was presented as a concept, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he would be able to sell it for a price starting at 300,000 Danish kroner. However, this turned out to be far from the case.
However, the car ended up costing twice as much when the first units were ready for delivery, causing the number of reservations that actually turned into actual orders to plummet.
Moreover, Tesla has already had to recall the car six times. And that's in 2024 alone. Mind you, production began in November 2023.
Here in Denmark, the Cybertruck is illegal. At least technically speaking. It does not meet European type approval regulations.
However, the Norwegians can boast about this, as the country is not a member of the EU. That is why someone has already managed to get a Cybertruck equipped with Norwegian license plates. Read more about it here .
