Car brand in crisis loses DKK 223,000 on each electric car

Ford is not the only American car brand that is having more than a hard time making money on electric cars. Rivian also loses outrageous sums on each electric car.

Every time a Rivian leaves the assembly line in the city of Normal, USA, it equals a loss of 32,705 dollars, corresponding to 218,000 Danish kroner.

It reveals the accounts for the second quarter of 2024, which the brand has just published.

The 218,000 kroner in loss per car is actually a bit worse than in the same period last year, when the loss was 'only' 32,595 dollars or 221,000 Danish kroner. That is, as per car.

That's what Automotive News writes.

Divided into the first and second quarter, Rivian has now lost just under 3 billion dollars in the course of this year. Looking at all of 2023, Rivian lost $5.3 billion building electric cars.

However, the American brand is not the only one burning through the capital. At the competitor Lucid Motors, which is based in California, it is also very easy to spend money. So now an oil fund comes to the rescue with a gigantic amount. Read more about it here .

The car brands are far from being the only ones struggling against a bad economy. The whole industry in general does that. The rim manufacturer BBS is about to go bankrupt for the fifth time. Recaro is heading in the same direction and last week the Chinese car brand HiPhi announced that the parent company has gone bankrupt.
