Peugeot promotes 20-year-old Dane with wild contract

He is a hot name in motorsport. And now Peugeot is doing their part to keep the only 20-year-old Dane Malthe Jakobsen. A promotion is expected in 2025.

He is mentioned as far up the hierarchy as Formula 1. But Peugeot has secured Malthe Jakobsen's signature on a new contract.

The Stellantis brand confirms this in a press release .

The contract with Peugeot means that another Dane joins the field of WEC drivers. Malthe Jakobsen is to drive Peugeot's hypercar, 9×8.

– I am very proud to have been part of the team for the last two years, first as a junior choir and then this year as a reserve choir. Thanks to the whole team for giving me this fantastic opportunity, says the young Dane.

And the Peugeot managers are happy to have been able to coax a signature out of the lightning-quick Dane. So happy that there is enthusiasm to trace in the brand's managing director Linda Jackson.

– He is a talented young chorister who I have followed since the beginning of his career. We know about his potential. And that's why we brought him in as a junior choir. I am happy to see him continue his development with Peugeot.

Alongside the reserve seat for Peugeot, which is now being replaced with an actual fixed seat, Jakobsen has impressed with the Swiss Cool Racing in the European Le Mans series.

Something that i.a. meant that in the spring he was linked with a seat at the Formula 1 team RB, which is the incubator for the defending world champions Red Bull.

However, not everything with a Danish sign in the world of motorsport is good news. This week Kevin Magnussen lost his seat at Haas. The Dane retires after this season.

K-Mag told immediately after the news about his exit from the Haas garage that he is determined to stay in Formula 1. Subsequently, the Dane's former team boss could also reveal that the two have exchanged an important SMS. Read more about it here .
