New decision saves over 100,000 cars from traffic bans

Cars in the order of 100,000 stood for traffic bans, because the older 2 and 3G networks must be shut down. Now that decision has been postponed until at least 2027.

It has already had consequences. A brand like Nissan, for example, closes several functions in the app for older electric cars.

But now a number of older cars, which are generally dependent on the network connection that runs on 2 and 3G networks, risk not being affected by traffic bans after all.

With the shutdown of the older mobile networks, there was otherwise a traffic ban, because the statutory emergency call button is connected to the outside world that way.

Aftonbladet writes that.

But now at least the Swedes are postponing the shutdown of the older mobile networks. This also means that older navigation systems will have an extended life. Read more about it here .

In Denmark, Telenor has announced for the time being that it will also close the 2 and 3G connection. According to the plan, this will not happen until 2030. However, the telecommunications company will not give details on a precise date for the time being. That's what the Engineer writes.

However, it is not only on the technology front that drivers with older cars in particular have to fear that their cars will soon be useless.

In 2027, the EU will introduce the so-called ETS 2 quota system for fuels. And this is already causing the industry to warn about extremely expensive petrol and diesel.

– We have had discussions with representatives in the fuel industry who believe that the price can rise to up to 40 Swedish kroner (26 Danish kroner, ed.) per litres, says Peder Blohm Bokenhielm, spokesman for Fuel Rebellion, to the media Carup.
