Rally choir loses life – aged only 64

Swedish rally driver Susanne Kottulinsky has died at the age of just 64. Her family announced this in a post on Instagram.

She won the hearts of many car enthusiasts. But Swedish rally driver Susanne Kottulinsky is no longer here. She died on Wednesday after a short illness.

The family says this in a post on Instagram .

– After a short illness, Susanne will soon have her last piece with us by her side as a card reader, write the children Mikaela and Fredrik about their mother on social media.

As a rally driver, Susanne Kottulinsky made it through both the European and World Championships. And that as a driver and as a co-driver. When she put the driving gloves on the shelf, she threw herself into the organizational work of the sport.

Kottulinsky became a member of the FIA's Women in Motorsport Commission, a board member of the Swedish Motorsport Association and staff coordinator at Swedish Rally.

– We are incredibly, incredibly sad about it. It feels very sad, says colleague Anna Nordkvist, CEO of Swedish Motorsport and Swedish Rally, to the newspaper Expressen.

In Sweden, the rally community is deeply saddened by the loss of a popular figure in motorsport.

– Susanne, she was the super happy, energetic, most positive person in motorsport.

– She had a heart for motorsport like no other, I would say, says CEO of WEC Sweden Anna Nordkvist.

Susanne Kottulinsky didn't learn rallying from strangers either. Her father, who immigrated from Germany to Sweden, competed in both Formula 2 and Formula 3, winning the legendary Dakar Rally.

Susanne Kottulinsky started a family with her colleague Jerry Åhlin. Together they had two children, who have also entered the world of motorsport.

The surviving children tell Aftonbladet that their mother had one last wish in particular. People should not send flowers. Instead, Kottulinsky would prefer that her old Volvo 240 be back in the rally trials.

– Her dream was to support the guys who are renovating her old Volvo 240 Turbo so that it could get back out into the rally woods. It is now our goal to fulfill her last wish, it says.
