Danish electric car dealer bankrupt – owes millions

A Danish car dealer, Jans Auto, located in Hobro, has gone bankrupt because the business with Chinese electric cars could not run.

For the second time in just one year, Jans Auto, located in Hobro, has gone bankrupt. The business of importing Chinese electric cars couldn't go around.

That's what Motormagasinet writes.

The information also appears in the Statstidende.

It is the owner and director of Jans Auto, Brian Rasmussen, who himself filed for bankruptcy after he took over the then otherwise bankrupt remains in May 2023.

The car dealer does not wish to tell Motormagasinet about the bankruptcy itself, but instead refers to the receiver of the bankruptcy estate.

At the law firm HjulmandKaptajn, they call it 'a tough but often right decision'. In other news, the law firm cites the special punitive tariff on Chinese electric cars as the reason for the bankruptcy.

It is also established that there is debt in the company, which has seven employees on the payroll. The overview of the debt is not final, but it already amounts to 'a few million'.

The car dealer in Hobro has particularly focused on selling Chinese Maxus vans and passenger cars from Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd or JAC.

Now it must be seen whether a new buyer can be found for the company, so that the seven positions at the address in Hobro can at best survive.

The bankruptcy in North Jutland is not the first in the Danish car industry this year. In fact, the bankruptcy in Hobro just makes the number of bankruptcies in the Danish part of the industry even greater. It is often debts in the millions that burden retailers.

However, there may also be fraud involved. A Danish celebrity thus believes that he has been duped by a leasing company, where 7 Teslas were suddenly missing. Read more about it here .
