Volkswagen's newest electric car has a petrol engine

In 2020, Volkswagen bought the American car brand Scout. Now you are ready with the first offer for a car. Another one with a combustion engine.

Volkswagen has acquired the American car brand Scout, previously known for its robust SUVs.

Some of the biggest Scout fans may remember the tag from the Swedish film Göta Kanal , where a character corrals a Scout directly into the canal.

With the acquisition of the rights, Volkswagen plans to revive the brand and introduce new models with modern technology and different powertrains.

Volkswagen has announced that two new Scout models – a Traveler, SUV, and a Terra, pickup – are planned for launch in 2027.

The models will be produced both as electric cars and in a version with a combustion engine that acts as a generator and charges the battery under the hood.

The electric car version will be able to cover approximately 550 kilometers on one charge. While the version with the generator engine gets a total range of over 800 kilometers

Both versions of the new Scout series are designed to deliver high performance and fast accelerations.

The advanced 800-volt electrical architecture provides fast charging and reduced energy consumption even under hard acceleration, VW promises. The fastest versions of the upcoming Scout models will be able to reach from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.

With the revival, Volkswagen aims to address both the US and international markets, where interest in larger SUVs and pickups with "flexible" powertrains is growing.

Most recently, the VW-owned Porsche brand has announced that it will not only build cars with an electric motor in 2030. Other car brands such as Ford, Volvo and Mercedes have also jumped from similar targets.
