These closed car brands miss the drivers the most

A global survey by the company Hippo Leasing based on the number of internet searches shows that some car brands are more missed than others.

In recent years, we have lost quite a few car brands. Many short in the grave during or just immediately after the financial crisis in the late 00s. And more brands may be heading in that direction.

On Tuesday of this week, Fisker Inc. sought for example bankruptcy protection in the USA. And earlier this year, a small German car brand experienced bankruptcy for the second time. Read more about it here.

But this does not mean that motorists have forgotten the car brands that no longer exist. A survey by Hippo Leasing clearly shows this.

Even 13 years after the car brand's first bankruptcy filing in 2011, there are still 107,200 internet searches on Saab Automobile every single month. Here Pontiac follows with 98,900 searches, because there is a decent jump down to third place.

According to the leasing company, there are 'only' 46,480 monthly searches for Oldsmobile, which closed in August 2004. So almost 20 years ago.

The East German communist brand Trabant occupies fourth place with 29,940 visits, while brands such as Talbot and Edsel round off the sad top 10 with 13,780 and 13,670 visits respectively in one month. The complete list can be seen here .

Closed car brands are one thing. Another thing is that internet users are actually also searching for car manufacturers that never existed. It even happens quite often.

Here at Boosted, we have already been able to tell how 30,000 internet users are searching for the same non-existent car brand. It's all due to a misunderstanding of the logo. Read more about it here .
