Both AMG and Mercedes will probably say that it can't be done. But that's a lie. Because there's plenty of room for a V8 engine in an AMG with 4 cylinders.
The latest Mercedes C63 AMG is a disappointment in many ways, including for the Mercedes Group itself.
The boss at Mercedes-AMG, his name is Michael Schiebe, has said several times that his customers do not buy the cars for the V8 engine.
– You buy a Mercedes-AMG for the technology, not the engine, he said back in December 2023, when he first defended the decision.
In 2025, he had to crawl to his knees and admit that Mercedes was losing customers because the C63 no longer had a V8 engine. On the other hand, there was money for all of this.
Austrian Vuk Manufaktur, which normally makes its living by tuning already heavily pumped Mercedes models, has made a 4-liter V8 engine fit between the front wheels of the latest top model in the C-Class.
This also means that the entire hybrid system, including the battery pack, is gone. Unfortunately, there are few details. We don't even know which gearbox the car is running on.
But the latest C63s with V8 engines come from the factory with a 9-speed gearbox. Or a 7-speed in the top-of-the-line C63 S.
Because there is so little information, the number of horsepower is also a guess. Albeit a qualified one. Because the 'smallest' that could be achieved was 476 horsepower. That became 510 horsepower in the S version.
That's 50 horsepower more than the corresponding BMW M3 of the same year. However, the BMW also had to make do with six cylinders.
Back in Austria at Manufaktur, however, there is one thing in particular that is bad news. They have also refused to say anything about whether the car is a mule for a kit under development or 'just' a one-off. Unfortunately.
