Can you pull a burner in sixth gear? Ork, yes. No problem. At least not in the world's fastest car.
The Koenigsegg Jesko is not like most cars. And it's not just because the crazy car is built in no more than 125 copies. And on paper, it is the world's fastest car.
For a car with 1,625 horsepower, a misfire in sixth gear is the smallest problem in the world. The factory has just 'proved' that with a new video prank on social media.
The engine, a 5-liter V8 with twin turbos, also propels the Jesko to a top speed of 500 km/h. That is, if the asphalt is long enough.
And that's not all. The Swedes have equipped the Koenigsegg Jesko with the world's fastest gearbox. Which only makes the burner even more impressive. That way, sixth gear is found in a few seconds, while the car just tears its tires apart.
– Burnout? – Jesko: YES!, is the brief description of the video, which the factory from Ängelholm has posted on Instagram.
What Jesko Absolut, the car's full name, is still to be seen. The Swedes say it can reach a top speed of 500 km/h. But so far, only Bugatti 'has anything to do with it'.
In 2019, the brand's test cars hit 490 km/h in the Chiron Super Sport 300+, while the open version, called Mistral, reached a top speed of 454 km/h.
In an interview with Top Gear, Mate Rimac, director of Bugatti, more than hinted that the brand is chasing the magical limit of 500 km/h.
– Can we put the number five in front of the speed record, it seemed, after the open Mistral had returned as the fastest convertible in the world.
The ball is now in Koenigsegg's court. The question is whether the Swedes will dare to kick. It is certain that at least one other Koenigsegg will come to Denmark – specifically Langeland – before long. Read more about it here .
