The rare Lamborghini sat idle on the living room floor for 35 years

The world's first mid-engined supercar deserves asphalt under its wheels. Why this Lamborghini Miura stood still in a living room for 35 is unclear.

What would you do if you had the parts for a Lamborghini Miura?

If the answer is to park the car on the living room floor for 35 years, you are not quite as crazy as many would think. Because it's done for.

At least according to auction house Gooding and Company, which is looking for a new owner for this golden 1970 Miura P400 S. One of just 338 examples built between late 1968 and the early days of 1971.

Now the car is being sold in connection with the Pebble Beach exhibition in August.

The auction house writes about the car that it has spent most of its life on a living room floor. Why the car with chassis number 4,614 stood there for so long is not entirely clear. But that is the explanation that is to be traced.

The color is the original two-tone beige called Luci di Bosco. The 3.9-liter V12 engine is also untouched. The same applies to the bodywork.

In the 54 years that have passed since the car left Lamborghini's factory in Sant'Agata, Italy, however, it has not stood still. In fact, the trip counter in the Bertone-designed Italian reveals that it has been 42,043 kilometers.

At first glance, that doesn't sound like much for a 54-year-old car. But in the world of Lamborghini, that's a lot. Conversely, it is reassuring to know that the car has actually been used.

On the other hand, the ravages of time have also left their mark on the car, which is far from perfect. Among other things, the right front fender has been given a proper print right around the headlight.

It is not the first time that stories about cars that have been sitting idle for a very long time have surfaced. It can even happen to 'brand new cars'.

In the Belgian port city of Antwerp, several sources tell both German and French media that they see cars standing still for up to a year because they are being moved. The situation is now so serious that it creates space problems in several places. Read more about it here .
