The police will impound cars without air in the tires

The police can be the first to drive around in cars with tires without air in them. Then they are free from punctures.

We are going back for a trip in 2019.

Here, the tire manufacturer Michelin presented the airless tire Uptis for passenger cars. But now the tire brand's deputy director Bruno de Feraudy says that the demand is actually great among the European authorities. Especially with the police.

This is written by The Drive .

– The police from some European countries have visited us and said; "friends, we want these (airless tires) on our cars. Because when we chase bandits, they usually put a bullet in our tires to get away. So this is what we need," says de Feraudy.

With this type of tire, the risk of the police causing death during calls will also decrease significantly. In any case, it will be to a lesser extent the tires' fault.

Michelin has let the police test the airless Uptis tires at speeds of up to 210 km/h. The result is called 'successful'. However, whether it is the police or the tire manufacturer who thinks so is unclear.

It is also not known when the airless tire will land on the shelves at dealers. But logistics company DHL is among those testing the tire type.

The question then is what the police will replace their tires with when getaway drivers and other criminals also get hold of the tires without air in them.

However, the pneumatic tires are not the only innovation within the police service. The National Police has recently completed a trial period with electric cars in the fleet.

Among other things, they have meant that the officers become more ill with cholera than usual. Still, those responsible believe that the electric car will be part of the police's future.Read more about it here .
