Tesla is building the new Model Y in Berlin today

According to the German media outlet Handelsblatt, management at Tesla's German factory on the outskirts of Berlin has informed employees that they will be building the new Model Y starting today.

Production of the updated Tesla Model Y, known as "Juniper," begins today at Tesla's factory in Grünheide, Berlin. The new model was first introduced in China in January without an official announcement.

German media reports that the factory management informed employees about the production change yesterday, but without specifying the details. Test drives of the new Tesla Model Y took place in Berlin a few weeks ago.

This is what Handelsblatt writes.

The facelift includes both external and internal changes. The headlights and taillights have been redesigned, and the cabin has new seats and an updated infotainment system. In addition, the chassis has been adjusted to improve the driving experience.

It is not yet known when the new Tesla Model Y will be launched in Denmark. However, a recent presentation on European websites indicates that deliveries can be expected within the coming months.

Tesla saw a decline in sales last year, so the brand hopes that the facelifted Model Y will be able to reverse the downward trend.

Here at home, however, Tesla is still holding on to its lead. At least when you look at the most popular car models in isolation.

Even though Volkswagen has returned as the Danes' favorite car brand after being beaten by Tesla, the Model Y is still the Danes' favorite car.

The American car brand sold 10,471 copies of the car between January 1 and December 31, 2024. However, this is far from as impressive as in 2023, when almost 18,000 new Model Ys were registered in Denmark.
