Rockstar has bad news about GTA 6 – maybe

The game developer Rockstar Games may not be able to live up to its own ceilings. At least not when it comes to the release of GTA 6.

It is one of – if not the – most anticipated game of all time. But after years of development and the wait from fans, it may still be difficult for Rockstar Games to release GTA 6, Grand Theft Auto.

At least on time. The Times of India writes that.

In the so far only trailer for the game, which was released in December 2023, it simply says that the game will be released in 2025. Later, via Rockstar's own earnings expectations, it was confirmed that the game will be released in the fall of 2025. Or rather, between September and December.

But now that deadline seems to be moving. For now, Rockstar's former technical director Obbe Vermeij writes on his X account that fans may have to wait even longer. He refers to Rockstar's previous decisions.

– The decision to delay GTA IV was made four months or so before the original release date.

– If the decision is pushed further than that, it will be difficult to do anything. Rockstar is probably not in a position where they can decide whether they can achieve anything by around May next year, writes Obbe Vermeij.

Vermeij, who is Dutch, was employed by Rockstar from 1995 to 2009. He is, among other things, credited with technical work on Grand Theft Auto IV released in 2008.
