Recalling 820,000 cars because the tailgate goes crazy

At General Motors, one of the biggest recalls so far will be in 2024. The tailgate of almost 820,000 cars may have a life of its own.

It is not just a few handfuls of cars or perhaps a few thousand cars that General Motors now needs to have in the workshop.

According to the brand itself, almost 820,000 copies of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra have been recalled.

On the cars, which were all built between 2020 and this year, the tailgate to the bed can have a life of its own.

CNN writes that.

According to the US traffic safety authorities, General Motors has already received 'more than 130' complaints about tailgates that open by themselves when the cars are in motion.

This, even though General Motors writes in the recall that the cars should actually be protected against this kind of thing.

On the other hand, the authorities have been informed that water can penetrate the electronics in the mechanism that keeps the tailgate closed. And that can lead to short circuits.

At the same time, General Motors says that in one of the complaints, attention has been drawn to minor personal injury. Just as material damage is reported in three cases.

The recall may seem large, which it is. But at Honda you actually have an even bigger headache with recalls.

In fact, a single one of them is so violent that the Japanese are afraid to lobby tor for spare parts. Read more about it here .
