Whether drunk drivers congregate on the roads in central and western Jutland is difficult to say. But this is where most of them are stopped, new police figures show.
The political district in Central and West Jutland stops the vast majority of drunk drivers. This is shown by a new report from the police themselves.
It is also in central and western Jutland that most alcohol-related accidents end fatally. In the course of 2023, 830 drivers in the county were charged with driving stiffly on the roads.

In comparison, there are second most boozers around the capital. In the same period, the Copenhagen Police charged 636 drivers with drunk driving.

– We have many, many people who depend on a motorcade to be able to get from A to B every day.
– And we just have to say that the people of central and western Jutland take far too many chances to drive a car or moped when they have been drinking, and we are sorry for that, says police commissioner Jorgen Christensen, who heads the traffic department at Central and West Jutland Police.
However, the police commissioner is reluctant on one point. The fact that more people are caught drinking doesn't necessarily mean that more people are caught with a blood alcohol level.
The increasing number of charges may also be due to the fact that the police have directed a greater focus on this type of motorist in general.
According to figures from the Road Directorate, 157 people lost their lives in traffic between 2019 and 2023 in accidents where alcohol played a role. Back at the police, the National Police has already said that in the vast majority of cases it is alcohol that triggers charges for crazy driving.
