Jaguar stops selling all new cars

Jaguar has now stopped all car production. The retailers must try to survive on stocks until 2026.

Jaguar swears by the electric car. In fact, the brand's strategy is that they will not sell new (electric) cars at all if these cannot cost 1 million kroner or more.

And now all of Jaguar's assembly lines have stopped. The Indian-owned British car brand is determined to sell only electric cars from 2026. A whole 9 years for all other car manufacturers according to the EU to do the same in Europe.

It has been going badly for years for Jaguar, which cannot keep up with competitors from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. So now the feline has changed course, while several of the other junkyards promise to only build electric cars.

This is written by Car magazine.

On the whole, the JLR group, of which Jaguar is a part, has it more than difficult. In recent years, more than half of sales in the entire group are based on just three models: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Defender, which account for more than half of sales.

At home, there are actually only two Jaguars from January to 31 October. This is shown by figures from the Danish car importers, which today call themselves Mobility Denmark. Both were the i-Pace model. This must be seen in the light of the total of 126,000 new cars that have already hit the Danish roads this year.

The question is whether Jaguar production will ever start again. On LinkedIn, industry analyst Rene Tonder puts a bigger question mark on the decision.

– Will Jaguar suffer the same fate as Rover, writes the analyst.

Rover, which i.a. has been owned by BMW, shut down in 2008. India's Tata Motors, which owns the JLR group, finally buried the brand in 2013. But did you know that the first BMW 1 Series was actually developed by Rover? BMW took the car with them when the Germans sold off Rover and Land Rover in 2000.
