Improperly parked electric car caused 50 electric cars to catch fire

It was a faulty electric car parked in the wrong place that, back in August, caused 50 other electric cars to catch fire at Rivian's plant in Normal, Illinois.

It was the car brand Rivian's own fault that a few weeks ago caused 50 electric cars to catch fire on the factory premises in the city of Normal in the state of Illinois.

According to a source that The Drive has spoken to, an electric car with a critical fault on the battery was parked together with other cars ready for delivery.

That, says the source, should never have happened. The car with the defective battery pack had to be parked in a specially locked zone on the factory premises.

– Instead of parking the defective Rivian in a specially fenced area of the parking lot, the car was left next to other cars that were allegedly awaiting green light for delivery to customers, writes the media.

It is not known whether all 50 cars that were affected by the fire have been completely destroyed. But The Drive writes that some of the cars are certainly totally damaged after the fire.

Rivian itself states that the fire did not destroy the production plant itself, and that no one was injured in connection with the accident. However, this does not mean that the Rivian models are otherwise flawless.

Several customers claim that they have been delivered cars that are either missing parts or have been fitted with the wrong parts straight from the factory.

In other words, Rivian is struggling with the economics of production. Boosted has previously told how terribly much money the brand loses on each and every car. However, they are not the only ones. Ford has admitted that they spend one million kroner to build just one electric car.
