Haas and Kevin Magnussen are not a closed chapter. Yet the team's team principal is sending out a barrage of insults at the Danish racing driver in a new interview.
Haas and Kevin Magnussen still have a crush on each other, albeit in a more withdrawn role.
And in a new interview, team manager Ayao Komatsu at least takes some of the blame from K-Mag. It's certainly not roses flowing in the Dane's direction.
– I just wanted someone who is very self-driven.
– Someone who is determined to improve himself, improve the team, just non-stop. And that's who Esteban is, the team manager said in an interview with RacingNews365 .
According to former Danish racing driver Jason Watt, who has now become a Formula 1 commentator, that statement cannot be interpreted as anything other than 'a nod with a cart pole to Kevin Magnussen'.
– The one who gets mentioned a lot of times without being mentioned, I think, is Kevin Magnussen. Komatsu praises Hulkenberg for being a team leader, and the one who really could.
– And Magnussen is not mentioned. But then Komatsu also says something about what he should not have anyway. So yes, I clearly see that as a blow to Magnussen's head.
Despite the hidden scum, both Magnussen and Haas still have papers on each other. Because even though the team will not give the Dane a seat in a race car anymore, the Americans cannot do without K-Mag's 10 years of experience in Formula 1.
That's why a new contract has been drawn up between the parties. One that is actually adapted to Magnussen's new contract as a factory coach for BMW. Or maybe it's the other way around. See for yourself here .
