Gave the photo van the finger – and the fine became 75 times higher

A 26-year-old BMW X5 owner decided to give the photo van the finger when he couldn't slow down anyway. It cost him 75 times more.

A 26-year-old driver from Germany can look forward to a fine that is 75 times higher than expected after he showed his dissatisfaction with a photo van.

The driver was going 11 km/h too fast when he passed the camera van near Kulmbach in Bavaria, and reacted by giving the speed camera the finger.

The incident took place in April, and the police subsequently received footage of the incident. In addition to documenting the speeding violation, the footage also showed the driver making obscene gestures.

The authorities chose to charge the driver with insult, and the case ended up in the Kulmbach district court. Here, the 26-year-old was sentenced to pay a fine of 10,500 Danish kroner – 75 times more than the original fine of approximately 140 Danish kroner for the speeding violation.

– When the police responsible for the speed camera received the image, he [the driver] was reported for insulting behavior, the police in Upper Franconia inform.

In addition to the increased fine, the driver also lost his driving license for a month. The verdict illustrates that reactions directed at photo vans can have unforeseen consequences.

Although many people associate Germany with the Autobahn and free speeds, the reality is different. Speed limits are closely monitored by camera cars, and drivers must respect the traffic laws to avoid tickets.

Other drivers care about speed limits just as much as the angry 26-year-old BMW owner. But things can get even crazier. Boosted, for example, told about the man the police still can't find, even though he blew up a fixed speed camera. Read more about it here .
