Ferrari vows to build V12 engines 'until it's banned'

Unless the internal combustion engine is banned, Ferrari's trademark in the form of the V12 engine must go absolutely nowhere, the brand from Maranello promises.

Right now, it appears that the EU intends to ban the internal combustion engine, which cannot run on synthetic fuel, by 2035.

But even the prospect of such a ban is not something that scares Ferrari's global marketing chief Emanuele Carando.

That's what Car Expert writes.

– We will produce naturally aspirated V12 engines until the law no longer allows us to do so, says Carando.

It is also not more than a month ago that Ferrari presented the outside world with the 812 Superfast successor 12Cilindri. A car that manages completely without a hybrid.

So the 6.5-liter V12 engine with its 830 horsepower has all the power. And according to Emanuele Carando, there is an overriding reason for that. Namely weight.

– Our feeling is that the electric part increases the weight without actually significantly increasing the performance in this type of car, says the Ferrari manager.

Ferrari also prefers that the legislation changes from a ban on the internal combustion engine to a focus on sustainable fuel alternatives. In this way, the V12 engine will be able to survive as long as possible.

– This will be possible in the future by investing in the development of a more sustainable petrol, says Emanuele Carando.

However, this does not mean that Ferrari is disregarding other internal combustion engines or the electric motor for that matter. In fact, Ferrari still believes there is a market for electric supercars of the caliber the brand is otherwise known for. Read more about it here .
