The E5 pumps are getting longer and longer. At least in Germany. And now the gas stations will be allowed to drop the petrol.
The regular octane 95 can still be filled. And that both at home and abroad. But in Germany they want to get rid of it.
At least the gas stations want to. However, the gasoline, which consists of the smallest possible bioethanol, is still popular among consumers.
This is written by the German media 24Auto .
A study by the Saarland University of Technology and Economics shows that if all German cars with internal combustion engines were short of the most required bioethanol mixture – namely 10 percent – this would save Germany from the emission of 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year.

But in fact the filling stations have already been allowed to phase out the E5 petrol. It already happened in March this year.
Most cars can run on E10 petrol without any problems. But there are certain cases – also on two wheels in the case of motorcycles – where the E10 petrol is not an option.
However, the Automotive Powertrain Institute estimates that less than one percent of cars from brands such as Volkswagen, Mercedes, Opel, Ford and BMW can actually run on nothing but, for example, E5 petrol.
Duraid El Obeid, who is chairman of the board of the organization Federal Association of Independent Gas Stations, says that there are currently no plans to close the E5 tanks. At the same time, however, he can well imagine that the E5 petrol will be phased out at the end of 2025.
In fact, it has already happened in other countries. For example in the Czech Republic, where they switched to only selling E10 petrol in April this year.
