Fiat stops sales of the electric car 500e – again

The little Fiat e500 is having a hard time. Now the car brand is stopping production of the electric car again. This time the break will last even longer than initially planned.

Fiat has once again decided to postpone the resumption of production of the electric car 500e, and this break will be longer than originally planned.

Production, which was halted earlier this year, was supposed to resume on December 2, but that is not happening now. This means that production of the Fiat 500e has been at a standstill for several months, and it remains unclear when it will start again.

Bloomberg writes that.

Behind the decision is Stellantis, the group that owns Fiat, which has also chosen to pause production of Maserati's GranTurismo and GranCabrio models during the same period.

It is another sign of the challenges in the European car market, where several manufacturers are struggling to sell their electric cars.

In September, Fiat initially announced that production of the 500e would be paused for a month. Subsequently, this break was extended by several laps.

The latest plan was to resume production before Christmas. But now it seems that the break will last longer than first thought. The reasons have not been officially confirmed, but the market situation for electric cars in Europe plays a significant role.

At the same time, Fiat is working on developing a hybrid version of the model. The current version of the 500e is available exclusively as an electric car.

But it is expected that a hybrid variant could hit the market around 2025. It is an attempt to adapt to demand and ensure that Fiat remains relevant in the challenging car market.

The current problems with electric cars are hitting Fiat hard, and the brand is facing significant challenges in its efforts to adapt to market demands.

The situation of the Fiat 500e illustrates the difficulties faced by many car manufacturers at a time when the transition to electric cars is not going as fast as expected.
