Every 20th new car in Denmark is Chinese

The Chinese are coming. In fact, they are already here. And it is so significant that every 20th new car in Denmark comes directly from China.

Every 20th new car sold in Denmark is Chinese.

And not just enough of that. There are as many as 3 Chinese brands in the top 25 of the most sold cars in this country. Things are no longer going well for the brand, which Volvo has just parted with. Read about it here .

Because at the 'top' – at least when it comes to Chinese cars – we find BYD in 19th place. The Chinese brand has succeeded in persuading 541 Danes to buy a new car since 1 January.

This is shown by fresh figures from De Danske Bilimportorer .

In the same period just a year ago, BYD sold no more than 32 cars. A little further down the list is Xpeng, which sold only one car less than the VAG-branded Cupra. Namely 376 pieces.

On the other hand, there are also Chinese brands that have fared not so well, to put it mildly. Nio has sold just 2 cars in Denmark between 1 January and 31 March this year.

Late in March, the car brand also took the consequences and largely disappeared from the country. The remaining business is now managed overall from Sweden.

It all comes after Nio initially fired every third employee in Denmark shortly before Christmas last year. And at the beginning of March, the Danish boss was kicked out of the store. Read more about it here .
