Director receives DKK 272 million. kroner a year – lays off 2,500 employees

Stellantis can pay DKK 272 million in salary per year to the group's chief executive. On the factory floor, however, things are lagging so much that 2,500 employees are now being made redundant.

Stellantis' director Carlos Tavares is well enough at the head of the world's fourth largest car group, but it is a group that is suffering.

Because even though Tavares has had his own salary increased by 56 percent, he is now firing several thousand employees. Announcements from several media outlets – among others CNBC – are so accurate.

According to media information, Stellantis is now firing the entire department at American RAM, which until recently assembled the RAM 1500 Classic pickup. This concerns 2,450 positions.

The layoffs are due to the model being phased out. After the layoffs, which go beyond the first employees until October, there will be just over 1,200 employees left at the RAM factory in the city of Warren, which is close to the former automotive center of Detroit in the state of Michigan.

The new round of layoffs is just the latest in a long series of cutbacks and austerity measures that Stellantis has gone through. In the past, the group has also fired thousands of office workers in the US.

Carlos Tavares did not want to comment on the story. But in fairness it should be mentioned that he is not the only CEO who is cutting back drastically at the moment.

Ford is another American giant which is also saying goodbye to its employees in a big way. Blue. at the factory in Germany, which Boosted could already tell in 2021 that the brand would close. Something that the Danish importer tried to deny.

However, it has since emerged that a Chinese buyer jumped out of a purchase agreement at the last moment. And soon the factory, located in the city of Saarlouis, will produce something completely different than cars. Read more about it here .
