Christoffer can't get his electric car to shut up

Christoffer Hellenes owns a Nissan Leaf. But the car just won't shut up, even though he has asked it to. Nissan can't seem to solve the problem.

Christoffer Hellenes experiences an annoying error in his Nissan Leaf. Every time he approaches a toll road, the car warns him with a high-pitched female voice, even if the function is switched off.

"Warning toll station", it sounds to the great annoyance of Hellenes.

Nissan has not been able to solve the problem, despite several attempts.

– It is probably due to a programming error, which even after several repair attempts it has not been possible to resolve, confirms general manager Bjorn Georg Sorensen at brand dealer Mobile Jarlsberg to Norwegian Motor .

The problem arises when Hellenes are driving on toll roads. Even if the toll road assistant is turned off in the car's settings, the female voice still interrupts the radio or podcast with a warning.

Hellenes has tried to solve the problem by activating and deactivating the assistant for each trip, but the error returns every time he starts the car.

Hellenes has had the car in the workshop several times, where they have tried to reset the function, update the software and make other changes, without success.

Neither the importer nor the brand dealer knows of similar problems in other Nissan Leafs. "We have not encountered this fault on other Nissan Leafs. There is obviously something wrong with this car. It should not be like this," says communications manager Stian Thrane in Nissan Norway.

Nissan has offered Hellenes compensation of DKK 10,000 for the inconvenience, but he is not satisfied with the offer.

– 10,000 kroner (equivalent to 6,360 Danish kroner, ed.) is far too little. Nissan tells me it is a minor fault. But why aren't they able to fix a small fault?, asks the car owner.
