Authorities say Tesla may exploit loopholes in the law

PostNord's Swedish department will still not issue new license plates to Tesla. But the brand has now found a completely legal loophole, confirms a Swedish agency.

PostNord in Sweden is still blocking Tesla's access to new license plates. But the car brand has now found a way around the blockade.

A completely legal loophole over the top, says the Swedish Transport Agency.

This is written by SVT .

The solution is replacement license plates, which are actually used in the event of damaged or stolen license plates so that the owners can get out to collect again as soon as possible.

These replacement license plates can be ordered and delivered by Tesla's service centers in Sweden without any problems. They can also be used as 'first-time number plates', says the Transport Agency.

It is simply about 'good service' in a general perspective, writes the Transport Agency in an email to SVT.

– That possibility exists from a service perspective, for example, that a workshop must be able to assist the owner of a choir toy with ordering new number plates via a direct inquiry (to the number plate office, ed.).

At the same time, however, the authorities inform SVT that they have never seen the law on replacement number plates used in that way.

However, not everything is going Tesla's way at the moment. In Europe, for example, sales failed in Tesla's absolute largest market in December.

In fact, towards the end of 2023, Tesla had to note a drastic decline in several places. Read more about it here .
