Ford will "force" employees to only drive electric cars

With a new company car policy, Ford will force the car brand's employees to drive an electric car so that they can promote the electric car to family and friends.

With a new company car policy, Ford wants to force the car brand's managers to choose an electric car. And the bosses should preferably tell both family and friends about it.

However, the car brand calls the scheme voluntary.

– By encouraging our employees to choose an electric car through the optional company car program, we make it possible for them to experience firsthand how easy it is.

In this way, they can more easily share their experiences with friends and family – an important way to increase knowledge of new technology, says a Ford spokesman to Reuters .

However, Ford has not said anything about how many executives it expects to see in an electric car – of which Ford only has two models at the moment – but Ford will consider each company car as a general sale.

However, Ford's electric car business is lagging behind tremendously. The brand itself has presented figures that show that you lose DKK 1 million per electric car that is sold.

Ford CEO Jim Farley recently claimed that car enthusiasts can't help but love electric cars. At the same time, however, he encouraged the United States to support the electric car with public funds. Read more about it here.

Ford isn't the only one limiting their employees' options these days. Volkswagen does the same. The Germans have banned a number of managers from ordering specific company cars. Read more about it here .

Back at Ford, there is a bloodbath going on. At least on European soil. Many managers and ordinary employees have already lost their jobs, and the employees fear that more layoffs are on the way when Ford wants to manage the European business from the United States.
