New track record: Audi RS 3 impresses at the Nürburgring

Audi has set a new track record on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife with the facelifted Audi RS 3.

Racing and development coach Frank Stippler, representing Audi Sport, completed the course in 7:33.123 minutes, over 5 seconds faster than the previous record in the compact class.

This performance makes the new version of the top model in the A3 series the fastest compact car on the 20.832 km track.

This record time has been achieved through an optimized chassis set-up that improves cornering characteristics. Frank Stippler states:

"The new RS 3 steers more willingly at the start of the turn, thanks to the fine-tuning – among other things, of Brake Torque Vectoring, which means that you can position the car earlier and better at the end of the turn at the latest from the dividing point of the turn."

The driving dynamics are further improved by the car's Torque Splitter, which enables fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels. The combination of electronic stability control, Brake Torque Vectoring and adaptive shock absorbers (optional equipment) creates a more precise and controlled road.

The powerful 5-cylinder engine with 400 hp and 500 Nm of torque continues to deliver performance.

With semi-slick tires from Pirelli, a 19” ceramic brake system and the optimized chassis, the 2.5 TFSI engine can send the RS 3 more energetically through the corners, accompanied by the characteristic engine sound from the 1-2-4-5-3 ignition sequence.

The new Audi RS 3 will be introduced on the Danish market later this year. Orders can be placed from the end of August, and the first cars are expected to arrive at Audi Sport dealers in October. Prices and consumption figures have not yet been determined.
