Nissan brings news about the next "GT-R"

The current GT-R sings on the absolute last verse. Now Nissan promises that the release will not be a 'half-baked release'.

The current Nissan GT-R hit the market in 2008. But the car with the hand-built V6 twin-turbo engine can actually trace its roots all the way back to a concept from 2001.

So there is quite obviously an age that is pressing. But this does not mean that Nissan has given up on the idea of a replacement. Not even if the brand has officially announced that it has stopped investing in the internal combustion engine.

Already in October last year, the Japanese said that the next GT-R can have 1 megawatt of power. Enough for the Japanese to call it a 'megacar'. So a car with 1,300 horsepower or more.

And now Nissan's deputy director confirms that at least something is happening on that front. And if it does come to fruition with a new GT-R, it will not be a charred 'band-aid'.

In any case, that is not the intention as deputy director Francois Bailly expresses it in an interview with Australian Drive.

Unfortunately, we shouldn't expect Nissan to be ready with a new GT-R as soon as the last copy of the current model rolls off the assembly line. The Japanese do not believe that the current battery technology on which electric cars are based can support a supercar.

Therefore, you will have to wait until the solid state batteries make their entrance. And it may well have long prospects. A brand like Toyota has talked and talked about the battery type for at least 15 years, without anything really happening on that front.

On the other hand, Nissan has already promised that motorists will see something for solid state batteries in the brand's cars from 2028. Read more about it here .
