The Germans do not believe in 15 million. electric cars – here are the new figures

The German government no longer believes that 15 million electric cars on the roads in 2030 can be done. Instead, they now relate to a more 'moderate' number.

The German government no longer believes that it is possible to push 15 million electric cars onto the country's roads by 2030 at the latest.

Because even though the government still has an ambitious goal of several million electric cars on the roads, it is no longer so certain that it all has to be counted in double digits.

At least not without a comma in between. This is written by Automobilwoche .

– Even in the most optimistic scenario, there will be just under nine million electric cars on the roads in 2030, writes the media.

According to Automobilwoche, the German government also now states that 'only' expects 6.15 million electric cars to be on the roads by that time.

In order to even reach the target of 15 million electric cars, 65 percent of all German car buyers will have to choose a new electric car when they are looking for their next means of transport.

In the month of May, however, interest in electric cars once again waned. Overall, sales of new electric cars have declined by as much as 31 percent compared to the month of May 2023. However, it was even worse in the month of January.

Immediately after the German government removed state subsidies for all new electric cars, sales plummeted by 55 percent. Since then, it has turned out that both diesel and petrol cars have progressed at that expense. Read more about it here .
