Bitter car disputes cost Ib 50,000 kroner per month

On the first of March, the fine that Ib Jensen pays for an illegal extension to his car business rose from DKK 10,000 to DKK 50,000 every single month.

Car dealer Ib Jensen has the Western High Court's word that 24 square meters of his business in Sulsted in Aalborg Municipality is illegal.

That's what Motor magazine writes.

The 24 square meters is only a small part of an extension of 2,000 square meters. But the 24 square meters exceeds the building regulations in the local plan.

Both the district court in 2020 and later the same year the high court ruled that. Since June 2021, Ib Jensen, who refuses to tear down the 24 square meters, has been given stalls every month.

DKK 10,000 every single month. But on 1 March it rose to DKK 50,000. But now there has been a development anyway.

The municipality is ready to make the car dealer fashionable. But it shouldn't be said, says deputy chairman of the municipality's town and landscape committee, Lisbeth Lauritsen (S), that you can just do what you want.

Ib Jensen has done something illegal. But now he may also have served his sentence. So the municipality will discuss whether the extension should not be allowed anyway.

Even the car dealer does not have many comments on the matter. However, he emphasizes that, according to him, there is nothing wrong with the extension, and there never has been.

However, Ib Jensen is not the only one that official Denmark is looking for. In July 2023, a 28-year-long dispute between the municipality of Frederikshavn and a car wrecker came to an end.

The car wrecker has been told several times – including by the courts – that he has far too many cars parked. But he has refused to remove them. In July last year, however, the municipality had enough. Read more about it here .
