The municipality will introduce an additional climate tax on petrol

There must be a climate tax on everything from food to petrol. But only for the municipality itself, believe a number of politicians in Odense.

Odense Municipality wants to hit itself on the head. However, not with a hammer, but with a climate tax.

Every time the municipality buys, for example, petrol or beef broth, Enhedslisten, the Social Democracy Party and Radikale Venstre believe that Odense Municipality must pay an extra so-called climate tax.

According to the Social Democratic Party's climate and environment councilor, it will therefore be more expensive to run Odense Municipality. But it must force the municipality to choose 'greener', says the defense

DR refers to the fact that the politicians in Odense have biased towards Aarhus, where a similar tax was introduced in autumn 2022. Something that caused the municipality's purchase of beef to fall by 40 percent.

However, it is not only themselves that the municipality wants to punish. In fact, Odense's politicians will also try to get private cars out of the Funen capital.

This means, among other things, that speeding over 30 km/h will be prohibited on most of the municipality's roads. In return, the city drops the introduction of zero-emission zones. Read more about it here .
