Sweden's response to FDM advises drivers against buying Tesla

The Swedish response to FDM now advises all motorists against buying a Tesla. – Choose another car instead, says Riksförbundet M.

As the only car brand, Tesla has ended up on the Swedish Consumer Complaints Board's 'black list'. This corresponds to the hanging cupboard in Denmark.

This now causes Sweden's answer to FDM – Riksförbundet M – to warn all motorists in the country against Tesla in particular.

Here at home, the car brand is also the only importer to end up in the window cupboard. There is not so much a closet as a list of prosecutors in the car industry who do not follow decisions in the Appeals Board for cars.

– Better choose another car brand, says technical expert Carl-Erik Stjernevall of Riksförbundet M
Swedish Radio .

The Tesla Model Y is Sweden's best-selling car. In the first half of 2024, Tesla sold 7,386 new Model Ys in our neighboring country. At home, things are going at least as well with 7,259 new cars between 1 January and 30 September.

It is actually another Tesla – namely the Model 3 – that takes second place. At least here at home. Tesla has sold 4,594 of that model in the same period.

However, Tesla has several problems in Sweden. In addition to the long-running conflict with several trade unions, several trade portals are considering dropping the brand. Read more about it here.

– Unfortunately, there are plenty of unscrupulous car dealers on the "Blacklist". We strongly advise against having anything to do with these dealers.

– We always recommend in our advice to check "the black list" so that you don't end up missing anything, says Carl-Erik Stjernvall from Riksförbundet M Sweden to the organisation's own website.

Stjernvall says that Tesla, as a member of the car importers' interest body Mobility Sweden, has undertaken to follow decisions from, among other things, the Swedish consumer complaint boards.

– We like to see companies comply with the law. Then consumers have a guarantee that gives them peace of mind, says Stjernvall to Sverige Radio.

The media has tried to address Tesla's criticism from both Riksförbundet M and other actors, but the car brand has not responded to the inquiries.
