Media: Swedish car factory directly sabotaged by China

The Swedish car battery factory Northvolt is not only in crisis because BMW canceled a contract worth DKK 14 billion. China is divesting the company, media write.

The Swedish battery factory Northvolt may not only be in trouble because it lacks billion-dollar contracts with the car brands.

The Swedish author Lars Wilderäng writes on his blog Cornucopia that the factory in Skellefteå is being sabotaged from within by a subcontractor owned by the Chinese state.

Allt writes the same about the electric car .

Dagens Nyheter has also told about Northvolt's connection to the state-owned subcontractor Wuxi Lead.

According to as yet unconfirmed information, the equipment from Wuxi Lead, on which Northvolt depends, can only be controlled directly from China.

In addition, the Chinese must be extremely reluctant to hand over a number of documents, several of which the subcontractor has even deleted.

The information comes from Lars Wilderäng's contact with a source with knowledge of the situation at the factory in Sweden. And although the author believes that it may be sabotage, in order to protect his source, he will not disclose his identity.

– It therefore does not help with additional billions or state ownership in Northvolt – production will not work as long as the Chinese do not want it, writes Wilderäng.

Sweden's Prime Minister has also refused to let the taxpayers pay the majority of the bill for the construction of another factory, which Northvolt will rebuild with Chinese-owned Volvo.

However, possible sabotage and lack of money are not Northvolt's only concerns. There is so much money missing that it is now necessary to fire people and close or resell several other projects.

At the same time, an expert demands that the battery factory in Skellefteå be shut down until it has been mapped exactly why four employees have lost their lives there so far. Read more about it here .

According to Swedish Mestmotor, Northvolt itself has not been able to get a comment when asked about the possible sabotage.
