17-year-old Dane makes debut in international long-distance running

Christian Dannemand Jorgensen is competing in his first prototype race in France – and will share a car with two foreign drivers for a four-hour race.

When the green light is given at the French race track Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend, a young Dane will be in the field.

17-year-old Christian Dannemand Jorgensen makes his debut in international motorsport when he participates in the Ultimate Cup European Series Endurance Prototype Cup. A race that spans four hours and is run on Saturday evening with 22 cars on the grid.

The young racer from Lyngby already has two seasons under his belt in the Danish Super 2L series. But in France, a completely new type of car, more horsepower and a driving style he has not tried before await him.

Jorgensen will start in a Nova NP02 with a V8 engine and around 450 horsepower. This is a significant upgrade compared to what he is used to from the Danish tracks.

He has spent the week leading up to the race getting into the car and getting to know the new track.

“It's my first time driving a prototype racer, and it has a lot more power than I'm used to”

Young Dane to share car in international debut

In addition to the car's power and speed on the 5.8-kilometer track in the South of France, Christian will be sharing a car with two other drivers for the first time. He will be swapping seats with Swiss Sacha Clavadetscher and Frenchman Fred Lacore, for whom he drives with the Racing Spirit of Léman team.

The team is no stranger to international competition, and also participates in the European Le Mans Series, which is among Europe's most prestigious long-distance racing series.

Christian is looking forward to working with his teammates and the strategic part of the race, as it is a significant change from the short sprint races he is familiar with at home.

“The strategy is different when you run long-distance races. It will be exciting to experience”

Focus on development instead of results

For the 17-year-old, the goal is not to win trophies or podium finishes on the first try. Instead, he sees the race as an important opportunity to learn and develop.

“It's about gaining experience and learning as much as possible. I have to take it all in and improve myself lob by lob,” says Christian Dannemand Jorgensen.

The Ultimate Cup European Series is known for visiting some of the biggest tracks in Europe. The series includes both GT racing and prototype classes.

Christian continues his participation in Super 2L Denmark.

The race in Paul Ricard starts on Saturday, March 29th at 7 pm and can be watched live on YouTube.
