Won celebrity's Lamborghini – wants 7 million for it

Pop star Shakira gave away her Lamborghini Urus for free. But now the winner has to admit that the car is too expensive to own.

The man who won singer Shakira's Lamborghini Urus in a competition has now decided to sell the car.

The winner, Michael Meija, originally had no intention of parting with the car. But now he has to admit that it is too big a mouthful financially.

Shakira gave him the car because Michael Meija won it in a competition in connection with the release of her song "Soltera." The prize was a purple Lamborghini Urus.

Meija has only owned the car, which costs from 4 million kroner in Denmark, for two months. But now the money he got on top of it – a good 90,000 dollars – has also been used up.

This was supposed to cover expenses such as registration, insurance and maintenance, but it hasn't been enough.

The Lamborghini costs over 14,000 kroner per month

The insurance premium alone amounted to over 14,000 kroner a month. In addition, there were significant fuel costs. Meija states in an interview that he had to fill the tank every other day, which cost around 600 kroner each time.

– So far, I have been able to pay all fees for change of ownership, legal costs and insurance for six months. But now the periodic fees also come at the end of the year, Meija tells The Drive.

The Lamborghini has a special purple color and a white and neon green interior. It has already attracted a lot of attention.

Meija has reportedly received several bids for the car. The highest offer he has received is $800,000, equivalent to around 5.6 million kroner.

That's significantly more than the market price of a used Lamborghini Urus, and the car's association with Shakira has apparently increased its value.

Some have suggested that Meija could make even more money by selling the car for parts. However, Michael Meija has a different plan. He hopes to make his first million dollars by selling the car.

– I think it's everyone's dream to get their first million. One million and one dollar – then I'm satisfied, he says.
