Woman wins court case – parking tax for electric cars is illegal

A female Volkswagen e-Golf owner has received the court's word that the parking tax she received was not just unreasonable. It is also illegal and must be torn down.

In a Norwegian courtroom, the parking company Vestpark has been forced to scrap a parking charge because it was and still is unreasonable.

A woman who owns an electric e-Golf had received the parking fee because she parked in a parking space on Danmarksplass in Bergen, where the corresponding charging station had been removed.

Here, the parking company believed that the woman was not allowed to park because the space is intended for electric cars that are charged. And they therefore signed off with a note and a demand for payment of 660 Norwegian kroner in the windscreen.

But it doesn't work, says the Parking Complaints Board according to Motor.no .

The parking fee must be withdrawn by Vestpark, because their signage in the square has been found to be anything from imprecise to downright deficient. Furthermore, according to the complaints board, the signage is full of unnecessary information.

The woman can therefore completely disregard the stall. However, it is far from the first time that a parking company has seriously burned the teddies. It has also happened here at home.

As recently as last May, the company Q-Park was caught handing out a string of illegal parking charges. The company apologized saying there had been an error. So even if it's 'a mistake' that couldn't possibly happen. Read more about it here .
