We can't build these cars alone, says Toyota

People have to get used to the fact that the car brands often cannot carry out the development work on their own. For Toyota, this applies to sports cars.

There will not be a new Toyota Supra that the Japanese have developed entirely on their own.

That's how accurate the announcement from Toyota Gazoo Racing's managing director Tomoya Takahashi is in an interview with Cars Guide .

Collaborations, such as Toyota's with BMW and Subaru, are the way forward for the Japanese.

– I want to go to work with a smile on my face. If I don't smile, I can't get the customers to smile.

– The market for sports cars will become smaller and smaller in the future. And we can't lump it all together as one brand. Therefore, collaborations will also become larger in the future.

– However, we do not know who we will be working with, says Tomoya Takahashi.

However, there is already much to suggest that Toyota is on the way with another Supra. In any case, the latest reports indicate that the current Mk. 5 is on its way to the grave.

And although BMW is reportedly not much for letting the Z4 model, with which the current Supra shares technology, continue, the Japanese would like to continue.

In any case, Toyota must be looking for the next Supra – which may/may not also be an electric car – to keep up with BMW's three-liter straight six. Read more about it here .
