Vice-presidential candidate proposes state subsidies for fossil-fuel cars

Donald Trump's vice-presidential candidate JD Vance suggests that a future US government should give government subsidies to diesel and petrol cars.

If Donald Trump moves into the White House in Washington DC again in January 2025, his vice president will have government subsidies for diesel and petrol cars.

Specifically, with the Drive American Act, the vice-presidential candidate JD Vance proposes to give up to 7,500 dollars in government tax for all petrol or diesel cars.

The American politician already wrote that on his website last year.

The amount, which corresponds to 51,200 Danish kroner, can be obtained if you, as an American, earn less than 300,000 dollars a year, and the car costs up to 80,000 dollars.

So, if JD Vance has his way, people with an annual salary of up to 2 million Danish kroner will be able to get quite a lot in support if they choose a car at a price of 546,000 kroner or less.

Most of all, JD Vance believes that Americans who buy the biggest cars (calculated in seats, ed.) must have. Jalopnik has calculated that the proposal will cost American taxpayers $35 billion a year.

If you make the proposal more technical, as many as 7 million of the 13.6 million new cars that are sold in the US each year will meet the conditions to get the support that JD Vance wants to introduce.

Here at home, there are actually state subsidies for cars with internal combustion engines. The hybrids – both diesel and petrol powered – do not pay full registration tax. However, it is all a stacked deadline.

According to the plan, there must be no tax discount whatsoever on either pure electric or hybrid cars by 2035 at the latest.
