There are probably no hydrogen stations in Denmark anymore. But if they come again, Toyota's cartridge idea could be the solution.
Toyota has long maintained that the electric car is only part of the solution to future transport needs. The hydrogen car might become easier with a cartridge.
Until now, it has required a dedicated filling station to fill hydrogen cars, but Toyota's idea is to fill the hydrogen in simple, portable cartridges.
It showed the brand as one of several possible development steps within hydrogen technology in passenger cars. And in connection with the Japan Mobility Show Bizweek 2024, it is expected that Toyota will show even more proposals for the future of cars in general.
At least the car brand writes so itself in a press release .
Part of what Toyota is bringing is a car that doesn't just run on electricity made from hydrogen. The car, a Corolla GR, has been made by Toyota to burn hydrogen in a converted petrol engine.

If the idea of the portable hydrogen cartridge is to have any validity, Toyota must reduce the hydrogen tanks in the brand's cars considerably. But Toyota has also previously – it was back in June 2022 – shown a kind of prototype of that.
Toyota itself hopes that the cartridges will be as easy to change as a carbonated cartridge used in ordinary households. For example, for taps that can make carbonated water – i.e. Danish water.
However, Toyota has also received fierce criticism for both believing in the hydrogen car and the internal combustion engine. Most recently during the Olympics in Paris, where a group of scientists wanted the Japanese kicked out of the Games because Toyota used the event as an opportunity to show off the Mirai hydrogen car.
